Random Thoughts From Dr. Thomas Sowell

February 11, 2009 By: Phred Category: Uncategorized

If you are on Facebook, you are probably aware of the “25 things about me” phenomenon that has been sweeping across news feeds.  If you are not on Facebook you have no idea what Im talking about.  Basically, a person posts a “note” containing 25 things about them, or observations that they have had.  While reading op-ed’s yesterday, I stumbled upon a similar piece from Thomas Sowell.

For those of you who dont know much about him or have never heard of him, I think that Thomas Sowell is one of the smartest people in the country and probably the smartest commentator/writer around today.  He is an African American man who was born poor in 1930 and ended up dropping out of high school.  After serving in the Korean War, he decided to return to his studies and ended up receiving a bachelors degree from Harvard, a masters from Columbia, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago.  He is a profilic writer who writes about everything from history to politics to law to economics to race relations to communism to autism.  He has an amazing ability to write clearly and simply and educate you while writing.    I have several of his books listed on the Amazon bar to the right.  I suggest you grab one.  I am at school taking a break between assignments, but on my home computer I keep a list of Thomas Sowell quotes.  I will have to post them soon.

Here is an article by Dr. Sowell titled Random Thoughts which are just that:  random thoughts about the current political and social environment.

Brilliant isnt he?  Be sure to check out his other articles.
